Herpes Simplex - The Deadly Virus That Can't Be Killed....
What cause herpes? Herpes Simplex (or Herpes Simple) is the name of the virus that cause the blisters and sores
on our body notably the genitals, buttocks, mouth and nose. Hence the name Herpes Simplex Virus or HSV. And there
are two types of HSV - Type 1 and Type 2.
Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 is also known as cold sores or fever blisters. They often found on the face (facial
herpes), wounds on the skin and to a lesser degree on the genital area. Visually, they are clear, tiny,
fluid-filled blisters.
Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2 mainly affect penis, vagina, cervix, anal (anal herpes) and on the buttock. They do
sometimes occur in other locations below the waist.
For both type of herpes virus, there are two kinds of infections - primary and recurrent. Primary infection
appear two to twenty days after contact with virus. The symptoms for Type 1 virus include itch, burn, tingle and
sting. The Type 2 virus include rash, itching, painful sores, fever, muscle aches and burning sensation during
urination. When the crusts eventually falls off, it leaves a slightly red healing skin.
Recurrent herpes simplex infection may recur every few weeks or years, since the virus could not be eliminated
after the primary attack. They actually moves to the nerve cell and remains inactive. Several factors could
activate it including fever, menstrual period, surgery trauma and sun exposes.
Type 1 infections are usually prominent during infancy and children. They get it from close contact with family
members and friends who have the virus. The sores are usually found on the lips, mouth, chin, cheek but they are
barely noticeable.
Type 2 infections are mainly on the genital area caused by sexual intercourse with an infected person or simply
by touching an unaffected part of the body immediately after touching a herpes simplex lesion. They are usually
found in adults with an active sexual life.
