Herpetic Whitlow: An Overview for the layman

Herpetic Whitlow is or sometimes known as herpes whitlow is the infection of herpes virus on the finger or around the finger nail.

The signs and symptoms are just like the other HSV infections, accept the lesion appears on the finger. It is most commonly due to infection with HSV-1, the same virus that cause oral herpes. However, the occurrence of herpes whitlow due to HSV-2 is on the rise probably due to genital contact.
